In today’s society, many take advantage of the advent of modern technology.
Some hackers steal information from unsuspecting consumers while some settles to scams and spams.
One of the most common type of scams is the text scams.
This goes down to a simple text message notifying you that you allegedly won a certain amount of money and you have to provide your personal information to claim it.
An example of this scam was received by a certain Shaina Gimao.
Instead of just ignoring or blocking the sender’s number, Gimao decided to give the scammer a taste of his own medicine.
After she knew right away that it was infeed a scam, Shaina returned the favor by deciding to give the scammer a ‘mini-heart attack.’
The scammer said that Shaina won a hefty PHP 500,000 and a laptop from a certain Consuelo Company.
He then asked for Shaina’s personal information and closed the text by saying that he is Atty. Gustino Atitus.
The text was complate even with DTI Permit Number but the thing that gave it away as a scam is it’s inconsistent grammar and case formatting.
After receiving, Shaina pranked the scammer by saying, “Congratulations! You have successfully subscribed to Prayer of the Day! 50 pesos will be deducted from your load.”
It was then followed by a biblical verse quoted from Psalm 16:8.
But a sigh of relief for the scammer it was, as she included a way on how to stop the ‘automatic subscription.’
Much to the surprise of the scammer, however, when he tried the said keyword to stop the subscription but the ‘system’ rejected it multiple times!
After the conversation, Shaina posted a screenshot of it in Twitter.
As of this writing, the post has garnered a lot of reactions and retweets from the netizens.
