Discipline and abuse are separated by a very fine line.
And for a woman who appeared in a recent viral video, that line was clearly crossed at the expense of her child.
Facebook user Tyronne Tong uploaded two short clips of the abuse last December 8.
The video’s setting is obviously on an MRT train and has since had 148, 000 views shortly after it was shared.
Also, the video sparked a public outcry on the woman’s terms and methods of ‘discipline.’
The video showed the woman forcefully covering her son’s mouth and banging his head to the seats of the train.
It also revealed that the woman punched her son, all in public display.
Because of what he saw, Tyronne lambasted the woman through his post.
He stated, “There’s a difference between disciplining your child and abusing at such a young age. Furthermore in public.”
The uploader then provided details by saying, “This was going on for more than 10 minutes and I only managed to get two clips of it.”
Tyronne then reinforced the gravity of the abuse for the clarity of the issue.
He declared, “Throughout the 10 minutes, she was literally sending (a) barrage of punches to the kid. Let me enforce, PUNCHES NOT SLAPS.”
This post sparked a debate on the proper terms and limits on disciplining your child.
It also raised awareness on public punishment to children of such young age.
