“Legal or not, it is a tasteless move.”
This is just one of the negative criticisms raked by the viral pre-debut pictorial of Presidential granddaughter Isabelle Duterte which featured her posing right next to the Seal of the President.
Just some moments after the pictorial was posted on her Instagram account, netizens took particular attention not on her dress nor style but the setting of her pictorial.
While some envied her for the ‘privilege’ she have since the President is her grandfather, many voiced out their reactions and took it to social media.
For them, the conceot of her doing the shoot in Malacañang sounds just not right.
One particular comment reads, “People asking why we’re salty about Isabelle Duterte’s photoshoot. Malacañang is paid for by taxpayers. We’re paying for her photoshoots.”
This comment went pointblank to the essential value of the taxes we are paying for government expenses.
Another netizen, who were obviously after the Constitutional value of the Presidential seal quoted the rule which says, “WHEREAS, these symbols are exclusively meant for the use of President and Vice-President of the Philippines and no other officials.”
One comment also striked a pun between Isabelle’s gown color and the blood of the EJK victims who are being pointed to the administration’s offensive against illegal drugs.
But despite negative comments raining down, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stood by the side of the debutante by saying Isabelle, who is a part of the Chief Executive’s family, is very much welcome to do photoshoots in Malacañang.
In a statement, Roque said, “The President is entitled to live in Malacañang. He opted not to pero siguro naman mga kamaganak niya, sarili niyang apo, puwede magpa-picture-picture sa Malacañang.”
He also emphasized the point that Isabelle’s photoshoot is not different from the privilege given to ordinary Filipinos.
Roque stated, “Gaya sila ng ordinaryong mamamayan na puwedeng magpapicture-picture sa Malacañang.”
Since Isabelle’s actions did not violate any law, Roque declared that the backlash about her pictorial was ineffectual.
Well, legal or not, all we could say is that the pictorial is definitely elegant, powerful and envy-worthy.
