After bringing honor and glory to the country, eight-division world champion and Senator Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao was recently promoted to the title of full Colonel.
Manny shared this achievement last Wednesday in social media.
He said that he is extremely honored to be part of the Command and General Staff Course Class 62.
His wife, Jinkee, is present during the conferment of the said title to her husband.
It can be remembered that Manny first joined the Army’s reserve troops April of 2006.
He was enlisted with the recommendations from Brig. Gen Alexander Yano.
Shortly after, he was promoted to the rank Technical Sergeant.
In October 2007, he was given the rank Master Sergeant.
Almost two years after, he gained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.
Last September 2011, then President Benigno Aquino III accepted the recommendation of Army officials to elevate Manny to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
And just last week, he is now a full-pledged Army Colonel.
Sources said that the Army, at first, has resevations on promoting Manny to the said rank.
Apparently, the rank usually requires an official to have a college degree.
Manny didn’t have one, but he has an honorary
doctorate degree in humanities granted to him by the Southwestern University in February 2009.
This enabled him to be promoted.
In an interview, he was quoted as saying, “Obviously, I am not trained for military operations, but it should be emphasized that reservists, are by their truest nature, civilian professionals first and military personnel second…”
Indeed, it is a Congratulation and Salute, Col. Manny!
