Being a soldier is being a hero.

Just by enlisting themselves into service, they prove that they are willing to protect the country, and the Filipino, even if it means sacrificing their own lives.

But our beloved soldiers are not always on their prime.

They are also aging and when they reach the mandatory resignation age, they will become ordinary citizens again.

But thanks to a government program, they receive monthly pension to aid their lives after service.

And this fact became the sole point where a certain family in Antique exhibited their greed and inhumane treatment to their relative who is a retired soldier.

Narciso Dela Cruz Alpas, or more fondly called as Tatay Isok, is a retired Air Force soldier.

According to a source, he was once a part of the Philippine Air Force with serial number 695184 enlisted personnel and was assigned to 356 ES of the 355th Aviation Engineering Wing (AEW).

He was then assigned to the 730 Combat Group (CG) in Nasugbu, Batangas and soon, he joined the 710 SPOW which is an elite combatant unit of the PAF.

He receives his monthly pension from the government but his greedy relatives receive all of those.

And worse, they forced him to leave their house and left him wandering the streets alone, set to die because of extreme hunger.

After they did that inhumane treatment to Tatay Isok, they are now enjoying his monthly pension where every centavo plays on their benefit.

While Tatay Isok is on the streets, too old for work to support himself, too weak to build a house so he sleeps basically just anywhere and too hungry to be depressed.

This sad news reached the PAF, and it released an official statement condemning Tatay Isok’s relatives and mirroring his extremely worst condition.

“We are deeply saddened about the condition of one of our retired personnel, Staff Sergeant Narciso ‘Tatay Isok’ Dela Cruz Alpas PAF, who was seen roaming around uncared for and even sleeping on the streets of the Municipality of Sibalom, Antique,” said the PAF on their statement.

The PAF continued, “The case of SSG Alphas (ret) is a serious matter that we in the Philippine Air Force cannot disregard.”

After this statement, his brothers-in-arms rescued him from the streets and transferred him to Department of Social Welfare and Development Region VI for legal custody.
