Marrying your husband for the second time is sweet.
Meeting your relatives for the very first time is sweeter.
But accomplishing those two acts in one trip is the happiest and sweetest moment one could imagine.
And for Francince Prieto, this thread came into reality when she married her husband Frank Shokotski last Nov. 17 in Denmark.
After their wedding, they crossed to the neighboring country Norway to meet Francine’s parental relatives whom she have never met before.
Francine father Jarl Jensen is a Norwegian but she didn’t had the chance to meet him.
So she went into a journey of tracing back her familial roots in Norway and found her half-sister Vivian Jensen.
It is through Vivian that Francine knew that their father has died and was buried in Norway.
“Kasi, ang alam ko lang, sa Denmark siya namatay. Tadhana talaga na dun kami magpakasal, kasi nandun din pala si biodad,” said Francine.
“Nung pinaplano na namin Scandinavian wedding ko at nakapili na kami ng lugar, sa isang island sa Denmark called Ærø, nalaman ko lang last October 2017 through my sister na dun din sa island na yun nakalibing ang father namin nang tinanong ko siya,” she added.
The couple originally wanted their second wedding to be staged in the breath-taking landscapes overlooking the Northern Lights.
But the registration for civil wedding in Norway is a little difficult so they chose Aeroskobing, Aero Island in Denmark as their wedding place.
It can be remembered that the couple was first wed in Capri, Italy last September 21, 2016.
In her statement, Francince thanked television show StarTalk for featuring her on their father’s day special that laid the way to knowing her biological relatives.
“Salamat sa Startalk nang ma-feature nila ako for their father’s day episode. Sila talaga nag-research lahat kaya nalaman ko na wala na pala biological father ko and I have a sister,” Francince recalled.
“Nakausap ko rin second wife ng father ko na buhay pa siya noon (she died also in 2010, same year ng mom ko). Tapos, through social media kaya ako naging connected sa family,” she shared.
It can be remembered that Francine was raised by her biological mother Amelia Falcon and stepfather Charles Falcon back here in the Philippines.
In her post she said, “In God’s time talaga. God is good. Tiwala lang talaga. Ngayong halos lahat ng part ng buhay ko umaayos, lubos talaga ang kaligayahan ko na ma-meet ang family ko, especially my sister”
“I’m very thankful to have a supportive husband,” she concluded.
