Giving people joy and happiness are the two main reasons why loveteam AlDub became phenomenal.
And its the same reason that prompted Maine Mendoza to write an emotional open-letter to the AlDub Nation.
After the success of split-screen series in Eat Bulaga titled KalyeSerye, Maine (popularly known as Yaya Dub) disclosed an emotional open letter addressed to the thousands, if not millions, of their followers.
The letter was posted by Facebook user Basha Gabriela and pointed to Maine’s Twitter account as the source.
Maine started the 13-paragraph letter by thanking their fans when they stayed with them through the thick and thins.
“Bago ang lahat, gusto ko muna magpasalamat sa inyo. Sa lahat ng suporta at pagmamahal na ibinigay at ipinakita niyo sa amin,” said the star.
She continued, “Sa lahat ng mga isakripisyo niyo alang-alang sa akin/aming dalawa ni Alden. At sa lahat ng iba niyo pang nagawa lalo na ang pagtulong sa kapwa.”
On the letter’s third paragraph, a direct-to-the-point warning was however written.
It said, “By the end of this letter I am pretty sure majority of you are going to turn your back on me and probably hate me.”
The actress continued with a statement that served as her guiding principle om her off-beat open-letter timing, “Pero sabi nga nila, speak the truth even if your voice shakes.”
She then narrated her rise to stardom and how did the fans supported her from the very start.
“When I was new in the business, you all came into my life and loved me for what I am,” Maine said.
She then thanked them by saying, “Nagpapasalamat ako na tinanggap at minahal niyo ako kung ano at sino ako bilang tao. Nagpapasalamat din ako sa Diyos na binigyan niya ako ng “kakayahan” at pagkakataon na magbigay ligaya sa iba.”
Afterwards, she expressed her unparalleled joy when she recounted all of the memories including the 2015 AlDub Nation which saw the two of them in the showbiz limelight.
“I was overwhelmed by all the attention and support you are giving to us. AlDub Nation 2015 ang saya-saya lang. When everyone are taking things lightly and we were all just so happy,” she remembered.
Basically, the first six paragraphs of her letter are dedicated to hos she thanked her fand and reminisced the good old days.
But on the turn, the seventh paragraph came as a hard blow.
Though it started again by showing gratitude to her fans, Maine honestly declared, “I am at this point were I feel like I live in a box.”
This statement surely caught her followers off-guard.
She then supplemented that statement by giving concrete evidences of why are she feeling that way.
“I have not been able to do what I want and say what I feel because everytime I try to express my thoughts and feelings, some of you try to misapprehend and invalidate it in so many ways,” explained Maine.
And, all of a sudden, she started relating how bad she truly feels.
“Telling me I am not supposed to feel that way because I am “rich and famous.” Telling me I have no right to be sad and hurt because I have everything a person could ask for. Judging, blaming and getting mad at me for expressing what I truly feel just because you do not agree and it is inconvenient to you,” she related.
She then came hard and direct to the point, “Ang hirap.”
Her letter continued on how some of her fans appeared to be controlling her life that all their wants and desires should be done clearly by her.
“Minsan nga tinatanong ko sarili ko, Sino ba gumawa sa akin? Ang Diyos ba o sila? Pagmamay-ari ba nila buong pagkatao ko para diktahan ako sa lahat ng bagay?” she exposed.
Clearly, Maine is hurt by the way her fans are showing ‘support’.
And getting her letter more emotional, she said, “Dumating yung araw na naramdaman kong para bang hindi na ako masaya.”
It surely wounded the hearts of many, but she continued.
“Nahihirapan ako na dinidiktahan ng mga dapat kong gawin at maramdaman. Napagtanto ko na nakokompromiso na yung kalayaan at kaligayahan ko,” Maine declared.
Then came her hard decision without warning, “I do not want to compromise my own happiness for other people’s desire. So this time, I am choosing myself.”
“Ako naman,” the star strongly declared.
And what about their loveteam?
The ninth paragraph served as a fan-heartbreaker.
“For all the love and effort you have given us, you deserve to know the truth that at this very moment, Alden and I are jusr friends. We are a love team,” Maine expressed surely subjected to the tears of many.
Then, taking into account her early warning about this letter, she said, “As I have said, as you finish reading this letter, a lot of you would probably turn your backs on me. I am ready for it; I knews this day will come. Even if I am left with a small number of supporters, kahit sampu lang yan for as long as they . . . truly love and care for me, I’ll be fine.”
“Sapat na yun para sa akin,” she affirmed.
On the latter part of her letter, she then “owed her actions to the people who dragged her into this.”
She exposed, “Our families, friends and workmates are being bashed and ridiculed by some. It hurts me seeing them being hurt. It hurts me when some of you are so capable and so proud of throwing hate on other people- especially those who care about us.”
“Hindi niyo sila kailangang tirahin ng masasamang salita. Alam kong karamihan ng nangyayari ngayon ay parte ng mundong ginagalawan ko. But some things are really getting out of hand, kailangan din nating ilagay sa wasto,” Maine retorted.
On her concluding statement, Maine posed a seemingly warning of her getting out of the showbiz limelight to have time for herself.
“Again, thank you very much for the love and support you have given me. I do hope I have also given you enough joy for you to give me the freedom I believe I deserve. Freedom to feel what I want to feel, be what I want to be and do what I want to do,” Maine stated.
The last line of her letter reads, ” Alden deserves the same, too.”
She then used the term “That Girl” as her signature in her congee.
Will this be the end of the very-much loved and phenomenal love team?
Let’s wait for the future to unravel itself and for Maine to unfurl the announcement.
Let’s do hope it is not the end of the line.
